Video Proposal for BC Centre for Ability
Parent Handbook brought to life through video

One of our Telly Award-winning videos, showcasing the vision behind
BC's Best Raw Pet Food.

WHO WE ARE
SPIRO Creative are storytellers that use video to build relationships between businesses and customers using what we call  heart & soul filmmaking.

WHAT WE DO
We create more than just video. We find the heart of your business and express that to the world in a way that authentically connects you to your audience.

 WHY WE DO IT
The etymological origin of "SPIRO" is latin: To Breathe Life Into; Breathe the Spirit of; mind, soul & courage. We unearth your businesses most powerful narrative - why you do what you do- and create a boundless, soulful expression that resonates with viewers as a beacon amongst the sea of hollow marketing.
Your story deserves to be told.
We want to tell it.

Project Overview

The BC Centre for Ability (BCCFA) is seeking to modernize and streamline how families learn about its services. We will produce two new videos:
  1. Short Promo Video (90–120 seconds) – Inspiring, public-facing, showcasing the Centre’s impact and inviting families and partners to learn more.
  2. Parent Orientation Video (3–5 minutes) – Informative, parent-focused, replacing or supplementing the current handbook with a clear, welcoming overview of programs and processes.
These videos will communicate warmth, clarity, and professionalism, while ensuring parents feel supported and confident in deciding if BCCFA is a fit for their child.

Approach

  • Leverage Existing Footage:
BCCFA has a strong library of video content already featured on its website. We will repurpose this high-quality footage to visually anchor the new videos.
  • Targeted New Filming:
To fill gaps, we will conduct a 1–2 hour filming session with staff, parents, or program environments. This will capture key visuals such as:
    • Consultant-family interactions
    • Warm greetings / interviews to camera
    • Natural b-roll of play, therapy, or community activities
  • Graphics & Animation:
For complex processes and data, we will integrate clean, branded graphics and simple animations. Examples include:
    • Referral process flow
    • Support level pyramid (Level 1–3)
    • Weighted waitlist system
These animations ensure information is digestible, engaging, and accessible.

Tone & Style
  • Warm & Welcoming: Parents should feel reassured and supported.
  • Clear & Informative: Complex processes explained with simplicity.
  • Inclusive & Hopeful: Highlighting diversity and community connection.
  • Brand-Aligned: Visuals, colour palette, and graphics consistent with BCCFA’s current branding.

Deliverables
  • Promo Video (90–120 seconds) – Optimized for web, social media, and presentations.
  • Orientation Video (4–5 minutes) – Designed for families, sharable via email, website, and intake process.
  • Custom Branded Graphics/Animations for clarity and visual engagement.

Production Plan
  1. Pre-Production:
    • Finalize scripts + shot list
    • Identify footage from existing library
    • Schedule short filming session
  2. Production:
    • 1–2 hour filming session (interviews + b-roll)
  3. Post-Production:
    • Edit existing and new footage together
    • Add voiceover narration, text overlays, and subtitles
    • Integrate branded graphics/animations
    • Final colour correction, audio mix, and polish

Timeline
  • Pre-Production: 1–2 weeks
  • Filming: Half-day (1–2 hours on-site)
  • Post-Production: 2–3 weeks
  • Final Delivery: ~4-6 weeks from project start

Budget (High-Level Estimate)
  • Editing (existing + new footage): $2500-$3000
  • Filming (1–2 hours + crew): $900-$1200
  • Graphics & Animation: $1200-$1500
  • Voiceover & Subtitles: $150-$300
Estimated Amount: $5350
Final budget to be confirmed after scope approval.

Why This Approach Works
  • Cost-Effective: By leveraging existing footage, we minimize new filming needs.
  • Efficient: A short filming session ensures minimal disruption for staff and families.
  • Engaging: Graphics and animation make complex information easy to understand.
  • Parent-Centered: Tone and structure put families at ease while providing the details they need.
ORIENTATION VIDEO SCRIPT

(Parent-Facing, 3–5 min)
Opening (0:00–0:20)
Visuals: Smiling children and families, consultant greeting a parent.
Voiceover:
“Welcome to the BC Centre for Ability. We know choosing support for your child can feel overwhelming. This short video will help you understand who we are, what we offer, and how to know if our programs are the right fit for your family.”

Who We Are (0:20–0:50)
Visuals: Archival photos → modern therapy/play settings.
Voiceover:
“Founded by parents in 1969, our Centre has grown into a community of support for children, youth, and adults with diverse abilities. Our vision is simple: inclusive communities where every person belongs and thrives.”

Our Approach (0:50–1:20)
Visuals: Graphics of the six F-words (Family, Fun, Friends, Fitness, Function, Future).
Voiceover:
“We use a developmental approach called the ‘F-words of childhood.’ Family, fun, friends, fitness, function, and future guide how we plan supports. Every child is unique, and we work with you to build a plan that reflects your child’s strengths and your family’s goals.”

Supported Child Development Program (1:20–2:20)
Visuals: Consultant meeting with childcare staff, child playing with peers.
Voiceover:
“Our Supported Child Development program helps children take part fully in childcare and preschool settings. We serve children from birth to 12, and sometimes up to age 19. Families are referred to us through doctors, childcare providers, or by contacting us directly. Once we receive a referral, a consultant meets with you to learn about your child, answer questions, and begin building a plan together.”

Levels of Support (2:20–3:10)
Visuals: Pyramid graphic of Level 1, 2, 3 + real-life clips.
Voiceover:
“Each child receives the level of support that’s right for them.
  • Level 1 offers consultation, where families and childcare staff receive strategies to support your child.
  • Level 2 provides shared support, where a support worker may help several children in a classroom.
  • Level 3 is individualized support, where a worker is assigned specifically to your child.
Support levels may change over time as your child grows and develops.”

Waitlist & Fair Access (3:10–3:40)
Visuals: Graphic of balanced scales, diverse children.
Voiceover:
“Because demand is high, there can be a waitlist. We use a weighted system that considers your child’s needs, age, family circumstances, and childcare setting to make sure supports are provided as fairly as possible.”

Your Role & Our Commitment (3:40–4:20)
Visuals: Family + consultant at table, newsletter, workshop clips.
Voiceover:
“As a parent or caregiver, you play a vital role. We ask you to share information, attend meetings, and partner with us in planning for your child. In return, we commit to listening, providing resources, and walking alongside your family every step of the way.”

Closing (4:20–5:00)
Visuals: Children and families smiling, consultants waving goodbye, logo + tagline.
Voiceover:
“Thank you for considering the BC Centre for Ability. Together, we can help your child learn, grow, and thrive in an inclusive community. To learn more or connect with a consultant, visit bc-cfa.org. We look forward to meeting you.”

EXPANDED SUPPORT: BRANDING, DIGITAL PRESENCE + CONTENT STRATEGY

Why This Matters

BCCFA has a powerful story and decades of impact, but its current digital presence can work harder to reflect that. Parents, partners, and funders often engage first through the website, YouTube, or social media — and consistent branding, easy navigation, and strategic content placement can make all the difference in building trust and connection.

Opportunities We See
  1. Brand Consistency
    • Define a clear brand kit (colours, fonts, logo usage, graphic styles).
    • Ensure videos, print materials, and digital content align visually.
    • Create simple brand guidelines for staff and partners to follow.
  2. Website Experience
    • Audit the website for clarity, accessibility, and ease of navigation.
    • Suggest adjustments for content flow (e.g. where parents can find orientation videos quickly).
  3. Video & Content Placement
    • Strategically embed new promo and orientation videos in high-traffic areas (homepage, intake pages).
    • Add clear CTAs (“Learn More,” “Refer a Child,” “Get Started”).
  4. YouTube Channel Optimization
    • Curate content into playlists (e.g. About Us, Family Stories, Orientation & Resources).
    • Update titles, descriptions, and tags for searchability.
    • Add consistent branded thumbnails for visual cohesion.
    • Feature new videos prominently on the channel homepage.
  5. Social Media Integration
    • Repurpose existing and new video content into shorter clips for Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
    • Ensure cross-platform branding consistency.
    • Provide a content plan for visibility and engagement.

Our Role

We would love to support BCCFA not only by producing new videos, but also by ensuring that these assets — and all future content — are maximized through clear branding, smart placement, and better curation.
Do you currently have someone managing branding, web, and digital content? If not, we’d be happy to partner with you in this area to strengthen your reach and impact.

Why Partner with Us on Branding & Digital Strategy?
  • We will understand BCCFA’s mission and values through this potential video project.
  • We bring a holistic lens: storytelling + design + digital strategy.
  • We can help ensure consistency across all touchpoints, so families, partners, and funders experience BCCFA as professional, clear, and welcoming.

Thank you for allowing us to quote on your video project. We believe that video needs to be engaging and entertaining to attract views. We work hard to develop a concept that will not only deliver customer views but will be worth sharing online. SPIRO Creative specializes in bringing out the "heart of the story" through our visual poetry and passion for what we do.
