Proposal: Celebrating 100 Years of Ocean Park — A Story Through Time

Submitted by: Adera Angelucci Co Founder / Producer
SPIRO Creative

Project Overview

As the Ocean Park community proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary, we propose the creation of a short, compelling documentary-style video that captures the essence of Ocean Park — past, present, and future.

This visual tribute will tell the rich story of Ocean Park through archival images, community-sourced video clips, and current-day footage, culminating in a piece that honours a century of connection, resilience, and community spirit.

Storyline & Structure

Title (working): 100 Years of Ocean Park: A Story Through Time
This 2–3-minute commemorative video will be centred around three narrative pillars:
  1. Rooted in History
    • Featuring historic photographs and materials sourced from the Surrey Archives.
    • Voiceover or captions describing the early days of Ocean Park: how it began, who was here, and what made it special.
  2. Living Community
    • Present-day footage capturing the vibrant life of Ocean Park today.
    • Key events like the upcoming Movie Night in the Safeway parking lot (Sept 6) and the Halloween Parade (Oct 25) will serve as anchors to highlight community engagement and celebration plus possibly other footage we have from the area in our footage library and any other footage you have.
  3. Vision for the Future
    • Short soundbites from community members or leaders reflecting on what Ocean Park means to them and their hopes for the next 100 years.
    • Modern footage of the landscape, nature, and people enjoying the area, connecting the past to the present.

Production Details
To keep this project accessible and community-driven, the following structure is proposed:
  • Project Fee: $3,000 editing only which includes 2 rounds of edits or $3500 for the 1 hour shoot day also included.
  • Deliverable: 1 professionally edited short video (approx. 2–3 minutes)
  • Footage Sources:
    • Community submissions: Residents will be invited to send in photos and short clips from past and present.
    • One shoot day (1 hour): For interviews with key community members and/or capturing specific community landmarks.
    • On-location footage captured by residents with coaching from Adera: Movie Night (Sept 6) and Halloween Parade (Oct 25) for live energy and event documentation.

What's Needed from the Community Association

  • Access to Surrey Archives materials or assistance with licensing, if required.
  • Assistance in promoting a call for submissions to the community (photos, home videos, etc.).
  • Scheduling a 1-hour shoot with key individuals (ideally early-mid April 2026).
  • Any key messaging, logos, or taglines that should be incorporated.

Why This Video Matters

A centennial only comes once — and capturing this moment ensures that the legacy of Ocean Park is preserved, not just in photos and memories, but in a story that can be shared with generations to come. This video can be used at community events, shared online, featured on local platforms, and act as a time capsule of who we are — and how far we’ve come.

"Adera and Ryan have been instrumental in bringing Canadian History Through The Lens of Indigenous Women stories to the public. They not only helped capture and record these Matriarchal women but helped promote and market the courses for the past year, helping to bring several hundred students to the learnings. Adera has been one of my go-to’s in this process and we’ll continue to work with each other to bring more Indigenous stories to the forefront."
